Glads in Progress
With all of the renovation work we are undertaking I thought it might be a little easier to steal away some time (no paints and water to worry about), now and then and do some work on a large drawing I set up several weeks ago. I had picked up a wonderful bunch of gladiolus flowers and as they progressively opened over many days I had a great time setting them up in different ways and doing preliminary sketches and photographs. Once I decided on my composition I chose to work on Stonehenge paper, I love the quality and how it accepts graphite in few or many layers. This piece is going to be 15 by 30, larger than most of my drawings - the larger they are, the longer they take but so far I'm thinking I'll like this one. With graphite of course you have to work it in sections so you don't smudge, I don't want to apply the protective spray till the very end.
I may do an update posting once in a while in between time allowed during our reno and or between paintings. Thanks for checking in. I really appreciate all the great comments, feel free to either comment of email me if you have questions.
